New Year's Eve concert Hamburg 2002
This extraordinary New Year's Eve concert was
already the fourth performed by the Philharmonic Staatsorchester
Hamburg with its musical director Ingo Metzmacher. The Musikhalle
was completely sold out, so that some fans had to enjoy the concert
standing. The program was - as usual - filled with works, hardly
anyone ever heard about. Real highlights were: Schulhoffs "Ogelala"-Waffentanz,
Rolf Liebermanns "Furioso", or the quite unconventional †berraschungs-Walzer
by Rihm and Killmayer. As in the years before Syrinx recorded the
concert and also produced the Live-CD: "Who is afraid of 20th's
Century Music Vol. IV", which the fans could buy already on the
10th of January in the shop of the Staatsoper and shortly thereafter
in regular shops (Sony, LC01039).
