Audio Production of the Trumpet Ensemble "Ten of the Best"

Otto Sauter is one of the world-wide leading soloists on the piccolo trumpet. He is among others also initiator of the famous „Bremer Trompetentage“ – the biggest brass festival of the world. It is very likely that he got the idea to arrange ten of the world best trumpeters in new musical settings while working with musicians at the „Bremer Trompetentage“.

In 1991 then the ensemble „Ten of the Best“ was founded and among others solo trumpeters from the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hamburger State Opera House, the Royal Stockholm Opera as well as trumpeters from Japan and the US joined in this project.

Since years the ensemble impresses through fascinating musical arrangements of Jazz, Classic and Pop – which regularly would not be played in the solo programs of the ten trumpeters. And exactly this exceptional musical repertory with ingenious adaptations and cross-over thrills the audiences in Europe and Japan.

The surprising and versatile arrangements are composed by the trumpeter Allen Vizzutti. He not only knows exactly the capabilities and specialities of each involved trumpeter but also is one of the greatest when it comes to musical arrangements. In the past he worked in Hollywood with famous stars like Barbara Streisand and Frank Sinatra.

The ten trumpeters are accompanied by piano, bass and drums. But for the CD production „Pop Classics“ Allen Vizutti wrote ten new arrangements for trumpets, rhythm group and big orchestra. Syrinx Tonmeister Ulrich Katzenberger travelled with the whole team and the equipment to Nuremberg to record the orchestral parts in the legendary “Kolosseum” sound studio. Afterwards the trumpets recorded their soli in the Syrinx studios in Hamburg.
