SYRINX shows 3D-Blu-ray at the IBC in Amsterdam
(press release)

AMTERDAM, September 13th, 2010 – As one of the first 3D Blu-ray discs according to the BDA Blu-ray 3D specification the DVD production company SYRINX Productions from Hamburg has presented a demonstration disc at the IBC in Amsterdam, together with their cooperation partner CHROMA Film & TV.

showreelSYRINX has produced the first geman top seller music DVD (RAMMSTEIN – live in Berlin, Universal/Music) and has presented the worldwide first DVD-Audio (in cooperation with PANASONIC at the IFA in Berlin, 1999). For the future SYRINX will focus on the Blu-ray 3D production

The disc shows stereoscopic video productions by Chroma, e.g. a 3-D commercial for Carlsberg beer. The content is encoded in MVC format and offers full HD 1080p resolution for each eye, under full compatibility for common 2D Blu-ray players. “this is the key benefit against the side-by-side method, which is difficult to use”, says Juergen Klimmeck, SYRINX CEO.

This was made possible through a close cooperation with NetBlender, whose software bundle DoStudio is one of the first fully functional solutions for encoding and authoring of 3-D content. After presenting the mvc encoder in July, the release of the authoring tool is expected soon.

Marcus Herzog, expert for authoring & audio at SYRINX: „The software is 100% functional, very well structured and easy to handle. Now we are able to offer the production of Blu-ray 3D to our customers. We expect requests in the beginning from industy clients, who want to use 3D for their presentations”
